Photograph of Dorniers Over India Rubber Factory in Canning Town During Raid -

Description:
The Blitz, the German bombing of London between 1940 and 1944, killed around 20,000 Londoners and destroyed approximately 1.4 million homes. In addition to these losses, areas of industry and commerce were targeted in bombing raids in order to cripple Britain?s ability to produce necessary supplies. This can clearly be seen in this photograph, where we see, from the air, a German bombing raid on an India Rubber Factory in Canning Town, Docklands.
