Southgate Station, Architect's Drawings - drawing
- Description:
- This architectural drawing of Southgate Underground station shows a detailed section through the building and a plan view of the circular ticket hall. It illustrates the layout and the position of the escalators, station offices and various retail outlets. The drawing highlights the innovative, fully integrated approach to station design. Services such as a taxi rank, bus stops and shops are included. The station building also incorporated a showroom for North Met, the company formed to sell surplus electricity from power stations operated by the North Metropolitan Tramways Company. It supplied electricity for domestic use to the new suburban developments in north London and Middlesex.
