Description:
This notice warns the public about the presence of gas and the need to use their gas masks. It would have been posted in Underground stations that were used as air-raid shelters during the Second World War. Throughout the war, there was a fear that deadly gas could be used as a weapon by the enemy. Gas had been used during fighting on the Western Front in the First World War.
