"V" type destination blind for RT, RTL and RTW-type buses - destination blind

Destination blinds were used on trams, buses and trolleybuses to indicate the route and destination. This example was for use on R.T, R.T.L. and R.T.W.-type buses. From the 1950s, all the destination blinds were manufactured at Aldenham Overhaul Works in Hertfordshire. Silk-screen printed paper was glued onto long rolls of muslin cotton. The blinds were made in one long roll and then cut up into individual sets of blinds. This one came from North Street bus garage in Romford. Places on route include Dagenham Docks, Ford's main works at Dagenham and Romford Stadium.
