'Beautility' furniture catalogue, 1958

Beautility Furniture Ltd was based in Edmonton. Established in 1894, the company moved out from Bethnal Green to Edmonton in the 1930s, looking for cheaper premises. Due to access to the River Lee Navigation, timber could be transported by barge from London Docks and stored in riverside wharves. Consequently furniture makers including Nathan's, Beautility and Homeworthy had factories here. When this brochure was printed in 1958, Beautility also had a showroom on Oxford Street. The brochure shows the 'contemporary range' of furniture on offer. It includes black and white images featuring room sets to show off the products to best advantage, sometimes with two different types of wallpaper in one room and plenty of rubber plants.
