electric plug
- Description:
- This Bakelite two-pin electric plug was made by the Manchester firm Ward and Goldstone Ltd. Walter Boughton bought it from the Merton Park branch of Woolworth's. The first UK Woolworth's store opened in 1909 and the American firm soon established branches in many of London's developing suburbs. Both convenient and affordable, the shops were hugely successful and provided a vast range of household goods for London's growing suburban homeowners.
