Mummy's a Suffragette - picture postcard
- Description:
- This satirical anti-suffrage postcard depicts the child of a suffragette. A poem on the back reads, 'Mummy is a Suffragette/ And I am no one's pet/ Oh! Why am I left all alone/ To cry and suffer yet.' The postcard expresses a stereotypical view of suffragettes held by many in Edwardian society. Those who opposed women's suffrage often depicted suffragettes as unfeminine, bad mothers and neglectful wives.
