Festival of Britain 1951 - leaflet

The cover of this leaflet shows the Festival of Britain logo, the Festival Star. It has been embellished with royal sceptres, pictures of musical instruments and technical drawings. The London Press Exchange designed the leaflet, which lists events and activities planned in association with the Festival of Britain in London and throughout the country. Dumfries and Cheltenham both held arts festivals; York staged an Exhibition of Buildings resulting from the Festival Architectural Competition. Inside is a description of the Exhibition of Architecture at Poplar, east London. During the festival, the site was open to visitors to watch the construction of 'all the components of an up-to-date neighbourhood' including shops, schools, churches and pubs.
