Street vendor, Clerkenwell - Photograph
- Description:
- This street vendor is working the largely Italian area of Saffron Hill, Clerkenwell; one of the areas of London Margaret Monck photographed in the 1930s. As well as street vendors, she photographed the people of 'Little Italy' constructing plaster works for Selfridges and listening to the Italian music played by the local street musicians. The area is still a traditional hub for Italian Londoners. Each year there is a festival procession through Clerkenwell, organised by the Italian community in honour of 'Our Lady of Mount Carmel'.
