candlemaker's candle rack
- Description:
- Price's Patent Candle Company donated this item to the Museum in 1987. Known in the trade as a 'clamp', its wooden rack would be placed on top of the candle-moulding machine ready to receive the finished candles. From its establishment in 1847, Price's factory in York Road, Battersea, played a significant role in the working history of Battersea and employed successive generations of local families in what remained largely a manual trade.
