Routemaster bus crossing Vauxhall Bridge - photograph

Description:
The Routemaster bus went into production in May 1957. Including all design modifications, 2,756 of them were built. Routemasters were used all across London and soon became a symbol of the City. This R.M.-type was photographed crossing Vauxhall Bridge in 1973. It is using one of the bus only lanes introduced in the late 1960s to cut traffic congestion. The bridge itself, designed by Alexander Binnie, was completed in 1906.
